Six years ago, I sat in front of my television watching the midterm election results roll in with my fingers crossed hoping that Alex Sink was going to be the next governor of my state. Much to my dismay, Rick Scott, a billionaire whose company perpetrated the largest Medicare fraud in history, won the governor’s seat by just over one percent of the votes. Four years later, I once again sat on my sofa with my fingers and toes crossed (for extra measure) watching the election results roll in again hoping that Florida would do the right thing that time around; but, they didn’t and Rick Scott won a second term by just one percent (seriously, what the fuck?) again.
In the six years that Rick Scott has served (I use this term loosely) as the Sunshine State’s governor he has targeted the poor and middle class with a vengeance. He has attacked women’s rights, health care for the needy, welfare recipients and allowed massive voter suppression in the state. He is one of the worst things to ever happen to this state and apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks so.
On Tuesday, Scott took a trip to Wynwood, Fla., when he was confronted by an angry man in a car. The governor was speaking to reporters when a man leaned out of the window of the vehicle and started screaming at him:
Motherf*cker! You scumbag! F*ck you!
The man then gave Scott the middle finger before driving off.
This isn’t the first time this has happened to Scott. Earlier this year, Scott walked into a Starbucks to get a coffee and left with a huge verbal burn after a woman confronted him about his deplorable treatment of women in the state.
It’s easy to understand why Floridians are so pissed off at him. The only people he has helped during his tenure in office are people who are as rich as him. He is a vile human being and a horrendous governor. I just hope more people tell him to fuck off before he leaves in 2018.
