Trump didn’t just “go there” when he called deaf actress Marlee Matlin “retarded” during the taping of Celebrity Apprentice — he also got racist as f*ck with regard to rapper Lil Jon (if you’re unfamiliar, he’s the guy who is most well-known for saying “Yeah” a lot). The Daily Beast reports the rapper says that producers begged Trump to stop calling him “Uncle Tom.” Three former staffers tell the publication that Trump was deeply committed to using the racial slur and seemingly no amount of urging could convince him to cease using the offensive name.
Trump began using the nickname after the rapper dressed up like ‘Uncle Sam’ during a competition that had contestants advertising hair products. After hearing of the stunt, Trump decided “Uncle Tom” was a completely appropriate nickname for Lil Jon. One staffers recalls Trump blurting out “Look, he’s Uncle Tom!” multiple times. Multiple producers leaped into action, begging Donald to stop using his cute little nickname because talk show host Arsenio Hall had heard him use the phrase — and he was not happy at all:
“We kept trying to explain to [Trump] that that’s not a word you can use, that it’s offensive,” another Apprentice employee told The Daily Beast. “One of the executive producers had to call him up directly to [plead with] him not to say it, and Trump was like, ‘No, that’s a saying, it’s Uncle Tom.’ There are several takes in the footage of the dailies that has him trying to figure out the difference between ‘Uncle Tom’ and Uncle Sam. He just couldn’t grasp that it was offensive… When [Trump] decides he wants to do something, that’s his way.”
Another Apprentice staffer of several years who helped intervene in the “Uncle Tom mini-crisis,” as the source dubbed it, confirmed that “multiple producers had to try to instruct him” but that “somehow none of it stuck.”
“It was not like he was saying the n-word, or anything,” the staffer continued. “But I couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t just realize he was being offensive with that particular term!”
Lil Jon responded to the Beast’s report by confirming that trump used the term and that he did, indeed, stop using it once he was confronted — and made it clear that he doesn’t support Trump’s numerous horrific statements during the campaign:

Did Trump know what he was saying? That’s between him, his white supremacist-loving sons, and the white power idiots he retweets — you know, the people in the “basket.” But in any case, do we really want someone so willfully ignorant that he is more willing to continue using a term he doesn’t understand rather than learn what it means?
Vote blue in November — we can’t let this orange-skinned disgrace to ever step foot in the Oval Office.
