It was just yesterday that Senator Tim Kaine was formally announced as Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s running mate, but it’s already obvious that he’s got it out for Donald Trump just as much as she does. Not even 24 hours after joining Clinton on the ticket, Kaine tore into the Republican presidential nominee hard in a rally speech that Trump is going to have a hell of a time recovering from.
In a joint rally with Clinton, Kaine began by saying that his son was deploying to Europe soon “to uphold America’s commitment to our NATO allies.” Kaine made sure to note that this was in stark contrast to one of Trump’s controversial statements from this week where the business mogul said, “he’d consider turning America’s back on our decades-old commitments to our allies.” Trump’s statement had been such a shock, even his GOP colleagues were upset about it. Kaine said:
We’ve seen again and again, that when Donald Trump says he has your back, you better watch out! From Atlantic City to his so-called university, he leaves a trail of broken promises and wrecked lives wherever he goes. We can’t afford to let him do the same thing to our country.
Kaine remarked on Trump’s brash personality and joked that Trump “doesn’t trash talk everybody, he likes Vladimir Putin.” Kaine then commended his future boss for her classy campaign and leadership. He said, “Hillary Clinton, she doesn’t insult people, she listens to them. What a novel concept!”

Kaine might be an invaluable weapon to Clinton in defeating Trump. Democrats love him, and anti-Trump Republicans are also fawning over him already. Here are just a few tweets and messages from prominent Republicans that are thrilled that Kaine is Clinton’s running mate:
This rally differed greatly from the disastrous introduction Trump did for his VP pick, Mike Pence. Not only did Trump have to beg people off the streets to fill the room at a Manhattan hotel, but Trump spent most of the time talking about himself – it took him 30 long, drawn-out minutes before he introduced Pence. Clinton’s approach was far more classy and gracious – she supported Kaine by simply standing behind him and letting him speak to Americans for 40 minutes.
Clinton had flawlessly introduced Kaine as “everything Donald Trump and Mike Pence are not.” She said:
There’s no doubt in my mind, because I’m here with him, that Tim is qualified to be vice president.
Right before Clinton let Kaine steal the show, she said:
Sen. Tim Kaine is everything Donald Trump and Mike Pence are not. Tim is so qualified to be vice president and, as I have said many times, the most important qualification when you are trying to make this really big choice is can this person step in to be president? Well, at every stage of Tim’s career, the people who know him best have voted to him a promotion, and that’s because he fights for the people he represents and he delivers real results.
We could not agree more, and it looks like Kaine is settling in just fine.
