Donald Trump has been carrying on a bromance with Russian President Vladimir Putin for months. Kim Jong Un had voiced his support for the Republican nominee a while back, and now state-run media in North Korea has jumped on the Trump Train as well, praising him as a “wise politician.”
DPRK, North Korea’s state-run media outlet, ran an editorial on Tuesday hailing Trump as a “wise” and “far-sighted” politician who would work at unifying the country with South Korea as president of United States.
The outlet reports that Han Yong Mook, a Chinese North Korean academic, wrote that a Trump presidency would be “fortunate from North Koreans’ perspective.”
In my personal opinion, there are many positive aspects the Trump’s ‘inflammatory policies. Trump said he will not get involved in the war between the South and the North. Isn’t this fortunate from North Koreans’ perspective?
The article also urged American voters to reject “dull” Hillary Clinton and criticized her strongly for pushing sanctions against North Korea in an attempt to limit the country’s nuclear capabilities.
The Republican nominee has previously suggested that he would support withdrawing troops from their stations in South Korea. Trump has called South Korea a national security freeloader, claiming the country fails to pay its fair share to protect itself and has left the U.S. holding the bag for their national security bill. He has also suggested using nuclear options rather than troops in the area, which caused great concern to leaders of both South Korea and Japan.
But North Korea seems to think it’s a fabulous plan.
Yes, do it now,” Han wrote. “Who knew the slogan ‘Yankee Go Home’ would come true like this? The day when the ‘Yankee Go Home’ slogan becomes real would be the day of Korean Unification.”
It should cause anyone supporting Trump to reevaluate their choices when they see dictators like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un singing the praises of a presidential candidate. If not his “poorly educated” voters, then at least the Republican politicians who are still backing his campaign. It won’t, but it should.
