So Donald Trump Jr. had a pretty awful day on Thursday. The Republican presidential nominee’s namesake made his first mistake when he claimed the real reason his dad won’t release his tax returns is because the campaign believes they will distract from Lord Cheeto’s message. And then, while in the midst of the tax backlash, Junior decided to make a really funny Holocaust joke! Cause everyone, especially Jewish people, just love them some funnies that remind them of the MILLIONS of people who were murdered by someone who sounded a lot like the Trump of the 1930s and ’40s! Trump Jr. said:
Without the media, this wouldn’t even be a contest, but the media has built her up, they’ve let her slide on every indiscrepancy, on every lie, on every DNC game, trying to get Bernie Sanders out of the thing. If Republicans were doing that, they’d be warming up the gas chamber right now.
Oh…haha…gas chambers….so funny! Joking about one of Hitler’s favorite ways to murder people is just the best. Also, “funny” is the fact that Junior seems confused about how gas chambers work (hint: you don’t have to warm them up).
Anywho, shortly after Dumbass junior decided that Holocaust jokes were totes cool, the Anti-Defamation League lashed out at him:

Hillary Clinton’s Campaign also did not think Little Donald was very funny and decided to release a statement nailing him to the wall for his horrible “joke.” Hillary For America Jewish Outreach Director Sarah Bard said:
Donald Trump Jr.’s recent comments invoking the use of gas chambers to make a political attack show just how insensitive, divisive, and reckless the Trump campaign is. The bottom line is this — offensive references to the Holocaust are never acceptable, especially from a Presidential campaign. This is just the latest string of outrageous comments and offensive actions from the Trump campaign. From imposing a Star of David over a sea of dollar bills in a widely shared graphic, retweeting anti-Semitic white supremacists, to remarks he’s made using anti-Semitic stereotypes — the Trump campaign has shown us exactly the type of campaign they are running time and time again, and this campaign will continue to hold them accountable.
Let’s be clear: Holocaust jokes are never funny. As many as 11 million people died during the Holocaust and some survivors are still alive. Those survivors should not be subjected to insensitive and ignorant comments like the one Junior made today. Let’s also be clear in our understanding that he was absolutely making a Holocaust joke. Many Trump supporters (and even Trump Jr,) are defending Little Trump by saying that gas chambers weren’t only used by Hitler and therefore, he shouldn’t be called out. It’s true, gas chambers have been used in other instances–even in executions in America–but when someone jokes about sticking someone in a gas chamber we all, whether you admit it or not, think about this:
Pretending that it was in reference to capital punishment is a ridiculous lie. But, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that a Trump is trying to lie their way out of an offensive comment–it is what they do.
