Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski just sent out a bombshell of a report on Twitter, which implicates the current Trump campaign manager, Paul Manafort, as a paid operative of the Russian Government.
There was a lot of scuttlebutt regarding Manafort having possible ties to the Russian government from his previous employment as an operative for former pro-Russian Ukranian president, and current political refugee, Viktor F. Yanukovych.
Yanukovych was forced from office as Ukraine teetered on the brink of civil war in 2014. After claiming he reached an agreement with his political opposition, he fled the country via Crimea and ended up safely in Russia, showing that he was essentially a Russian stooge all along.
Recently discovered ledgers show that $12.7 million in secret payments were designated for Manafort from Yanukovych’s pro-Russian political party from 2007-2012. The payments were part of an illegal off-the-books system which was setup as a slush fund for government operatives and bribes to election officials.
Another item of note was the fact a group of shell companies were used to funnel an $18 million deal to a partnership put together by Manafort and a Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, who is a close ally of Vladimir Putin himself. The partnership was going to buy Ukranian cable television assets.
This whole thing stinks to high heaven at this point. You might say this is in the past now, and regardless of the former legalities or ethics of how things happened, that doesn’t mean Manafort is currently in bed with the Russian government — except for this nagging detail that suggests otherwise.
Manafort recently went on CNN and talked about how a NATO base in Turkey was attacked by terrorists. Here’s the problem — it never happened. Not only didn’t it happen, but the story originated with Russian counterintelligence. The main man for Trump’s political campaign is repeating Russian propaganda on American news. Let the seriousness of that sink in for just a bit, then imagine Trump doing the same thing personally if he were to win.
While crafty people like Manafort and Trump are reasonably careful to keep an air of plausible deniability when it comes to things like this, you can make some logical assertions and come up with one thing. Trump has plans for Russia and he wants to use the office of the President of the United States to enact them. He’s already using one of their paid goons to run his campaign, and this is the same guy that’s disseminating Russian propaganda on American cable news. What would come next for Trump’s corporation if Putin gave him the go-ahead to setup shop over there?
It’s serious. Really serious. He probably won’t win the election, but just imagine if he did. We’d have a Russian stooge as president. What fresh hell would result from something like that?
