The president of a Louisiana parish admits that he made out with a 17-year-old boy, and even bought him sexy underwear as a “graduation present” after sexting with the boy. But he wants you to know that he is most definitely not a homosexual.
According to Mike Yenni, the ongoing relationship he carried on with the underage boy, who was a student at Jesuit High School, Yenni’s alma mater, was merely a “lapse in judgment” and nothing more. “I can’t explain why I did it,” said the 40-year-old married man.
Details of the affair came to light when the boy wrote a blog post exposing all the sordid details. Yenni claims that many of the revelations published by the “tabloid” are not true. He insists that their relationship consisted only of texting… oh, and those racy undies… oh yeah, and some kissing. But nothing beyond that. Honest. And that makes it all okay. Right?
The story was written for a monetary purpose, to win a prize. There are a ton of fictional elements in that story,” Yenni argued.
“I apologized for what I did wrong,” he said. “I text-messaged.”
When asked why he had done it, Yenni said he didn’t really know.
“I can’t…I really can’t answer it,” said Yenni. “I mean, it was just…it was a stupid action. It was a stupid action to even get into this form of text messaging. It was something…something that I can’t explain why I did it.”
Yenni, above all else, wants to make sure his constituents know that he is totally NOT a homosexual — or a child molester.
Like, in other words, what he’s trying to say in his pleadings, ‘He is a pedophile, he is an admitted homosexual,’” Yenni said. “And that is not true. I’ve never admitted that. It doesn’t define me either.”
“What do you mean it doesn’t define you,” Zurik asked.
“I’m not gay,” Yenni replied.
The two met at a Jesuit High School event and hit it off. They began exchanging text messages that became very sexual in nature. Yenni visited the boy at the mall where he worked and gave him a pair of sexy underwear as a “graduation present.” Yenni admits that they also kissed but swears that’s as far as it went. The relationship was not illegal because the age of consent in Louisiana is 17.
Not surprisingly, people are calling for Yenni to resign. Attorney Robert Evans is responsible for launching the effort to have Yenni recalled, which is gaining support.
