Male prostitutes are making a lot of money this week in Cleveland during the Republican National Convention. Most of their tricks are white married men. The New York Post spoke with several male prostitutes who said business is booming and their clients are RNC attendees.
Raise your hand if you’re surprised. Put your hand down, Larry Craig. Geez.
“Business has been way better. I’ve seen 10 clients so far,” one male escort told the Post. “Most of them were first-timers. You could tell they were nervous, but once they became more comfortable, they seemed to be having a good time,” he added.
Since Monday, another escort said he has already earned $1,600. That figure is a lot more than what he typically makes.
I normally only make $200 to $300, but I’ve been seeing lots of guys in hotels downtown,” he said, noting the boom in business near the Quicken Loans Arena.
Another escort described his clientele as mostly married white men between the ages of 40 and 50. He said he’s seen eight clients so far from the RNC.
“One of them was from Texas and visiting for the convention. He said he was a politician,” the escort said, adding that he didn’t remember the john’s name.
And yet another escort who charges $250 an hour for his services said he’s been making about $800 per day since the Republican National Convention kicked off. He said that all of his clients were visiting from Florida, Louisiana, and Washington, DC.
“Usually, I need to go out of town,” he said. The sex-worker added that most men just want to pay for sex, but there was one client who requested to “do his business in the corner” while he watched his wife in bed with the escort.
One man said that he wasn’t shocked that business was booming despite the fact that the convention is filled with bigots who oppose LGBTQ rights.
“When it comes to anything people aren’t supposed to be doing, they like to do it,” the escort said.
“The Republicans have a lot of delegates in the closet, let’s put it that way,” he added.
In contrast, female sex workers weren’t doing as well. In fact, they are making less than they do normally since the convention began.
“Has business been better for me? Honestly, no,” one woman said.
“Business is slower than usual,” said another. “I haven’t been getting any calls.”
Craigslist ads have been popping up with men looking for gay hook-ups during the RNC. This is a bit perplexing (not really) because the GOP subcommittee added an amendment stating that porn is a ‘public health crisis’ and a menace.
Hypocritical. I mean, with all that ‘family values’ rhetoric they tout so much.
