Donald Trump can be described as many things (most…okay…ALL of them bad), but “humble” is absolutely not one of them. Everyone knows Trump is not a modest man, except, apparently, Mike Pence.
On Thursday, after giving a speech at the Reagan Presidential Library in California, Trump vice presidential nominee appeared on CNN for an interview with Dana Bash. While speaking to the television host Pence claimed that Trump is just like President Ronald Reagan because he has a “core of humility.” In response to the Indiana governor’s outrageous claim, Bash said:
You talked about [Reagan] being humble and I know you talk about that on the campaign trail as well. And you do it as you compare him to Donald Trump. I think that even Donald Trump would say that there are a lot of things that you can say about him. ‘Humble’ is probably not one of them.
Pence disagreed, saying,”Both men were very broad-shouldered leaders. Both men have been successful not only in public — ”
But, ‘humble?’” interrupted Bash. “A guy who has his name on every building he made?
Pence claimed that Trump was an “entertainer” and Reagan had his name on a lot of “marquees” while he was acting so it is totally the same thing. It’s not. First, Trump was putting his name on buildings long before starring in The Apprentice and becoming an “entertainer.” Secondly, Ronald Reagan was hardly a mega star who had his name splashed on theaters across the country. Finally, President Reagan’s own family has repeatedly said that Trump is nothing like him and he’d be embarrassed for the Republican Party if he were still alive.
As adorable as it is that Mike Pence is trying to paint his candidate as some sort of Jesus, he can stop. Everyone knows there isn’t a humble bone in Trump’s body.
