Mike Pence took a little time off from his duties managing Trump’s transition team on Friday night and went to see Broadway’s Hamilton. The audience was NOT happy to see him and the entire performance was disrupted when they wouldn’t stop booing him!

But wait — it gets worse for him. As the musical came to a close, the diverse cast went off script and actor Brandon Dixon spoke to Vice President-elect Pence directly:
We have a guest in the audience this evening. Vice President-elect Pence I see you walking out, but I hope you will hear us just a few more moments. There’s nothing to boo here ladies and gentlemen. We have a message for you sir. We hope that you will hear us out. I encourage everyone to pull out your phones and tweet because this message needs to be spread far and wide.
Vice President elect Pence we welcome you and we truly thank you for joining us here at Hamilton the American musical. We really do. We sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us.
We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us. This is one American story told by a diverse group of men and women of different colors, creeds and origins.

It’s definitely ironic that a racist homophobe like Pence, who has a record of opposing gay rights, would want to be seen at a show about a Founding Father that features a cast of homosexuals, immigrants, revolutionaries, and people of color. Maybe he learned something tonight? That remains to be seen.
While being booed by an audience and scolded by the cast is not the WORST thing that has ever happened to a politician in a theater, it’s still pretty bad.
