President Obama gave a somewhat atypical response to a reporter’s question regarding “the Republican nominee’s” recent statements on virtually everything.
Obama doesn’t normally get very direct when talking about issues involving a single individual. Instead of speaking about the person, he speaks about the type of behavior, the kinds of rhetoric, or other more broad terms to avoid looking as if he’s taking a personal shot at someone. That didn’t happen this time.
The ONLY grace he offered Trump was not using his name. Referring to him as “the Republican nominee,” and using only pronouns like “he,” President Obama raked Trump over the coals until the screaming Cheeto looked more like a burnt match stick.
Not only did Obama wreck the hell out of Trump in a very personal and rightfully insulting way, but he then turned his ire on the Republican party as a whole. Totally lampooning them, he went on a bit of a tirade about how insane they are to be continuing to embrace and support Trump while they have to spend every day denouncing every word that comes out his mouth.
It’s a great point. What the hell is wrong with the Republican party? They are exalting a nominee and calling for unity around him, while they spend the other 23 hours out of every day doing nothing but talking about how terrible he is. They’re doing this in public no less, to the press! Honestly, have you ever seen anything like this before? If anything in American politics can be classified as insane, it’s the Republican 2016 presidential campaign.
