Now that Donald Trump is officially the president-elect, Russia is finally coming clean and admitting that they interfered with the U.S. election on behalf of
Putin’s bitch the GOP nominee. One of Vladimir Putin’s advisors has just conceded that yes, they may have been involved in the hack of the DNC and the WikiLeaks scandal that targeted Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Putin has vehemently denied that he had anything to do with the hack and the subsequent release of the emails that rocked the election. However, U.S. intelligence has pointed the finger directly at Russia. Now, it looks like what we knew all along is being confirmed: Russia hacked Hillary in an effort to make sure Trump became president of the United States. And it worked.
According to The Guardian, Sergei Markov, a pro-Kremlin political analyst, dropped an obvious hint that Russia had been behind the WikiLeaks dump after all. Following Trump’s win, he “was jubilant at the result and said a Trump presidency would make it more likely the US would agree with Russia on Syria.”
Markov also said it would mean less American backing for ‘the terroristic junta in Ukraine.’ He denied allegations of Russian interference in the election, but said ‘maybe we helped a bit with WikiLeaks.'”
Putin was the first foreign leader to congratulate Trump on his win and said that he hoped this would be an opportunity to “restore relations” between the two countries.
We understand that it will not be an easy path given the current state of degradation in the relations,” he said, speaking in the Kremlin.
“And as I have repeatedly said, it’s not our fault that Russian-American relations are in such a poor state. But Russia wants and is ready to restore fully fledged relations with the United States.”
Trump’s Russian ties and his ongoing bromance with Putin have come under fire, but that apparently didn’t make much of a difference to voters in the end. The FBI has opened a preliminary investigation into Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign manager, regarding his financial ties to Russia. American allies have also shown deep concern over Trump’s coziness with the Russian leader and his calls to bring an end to NATO.
