This is almost so stereotypical it hurts.
According to AL.com, a Tuscaloosa conservative talk show host and former Teabagger candidate for the state legislature, John Fisher, Jr. was arrested when police found him and another guy, named Christopher Shane Rushing, in possession of meth.
Fisher brands his talk show, The John Fisher Show, as, “Plain Talk, Easily Understood with NO Political Correctness,” and he ran for office in 2010, appearing at several Tea Party rallies along with Alabama Justice Roy Moore. He lost his primary bid to Republican Bill Poole, so he was forced to find his calling elsewhere — making meth, apparently.
Fisher loves to pretend he’s a firebrand on Facebook. For instance, his most recent post:
If you disagreed with him, apparently that makes you a “supporter of treason.” One wonders how he feels about flying the flag of an enemy state that sought to destroy the Union and the United States — i.e., the Confederated States of America.
All of that is academic at this point, though — most Facebook users are having a field day with his arrest for possession of meth.
Fisher, 48, is a native of Columbus, Georgia, and was arrested with Rushing, 42, by agents of the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force. The agents seized some 369 grams of “meth oil.”
The investigation started when agents were informed that a suspect had dropped off a backpack that contained items believed to be part of a meth lab at “an unreleased location.” Agents reportedly observed, “a second man arrive at the location and then exit carrying the backpack.”
When the agents followed the man to the 1600 block of Tuscaloosa’s Greensboro Avenue, they seized the items and arrested the people involved. Fisher’s law office is at 1609 Greensboro Avenue.
While searching their vehicles, police found an active “one-pot” meth lab. Fisher managed to make bail, but Rushing didn’t, and is still in jail as of this writing.
All I can say this: welcome to the real jungle, Fisher — the American Legal system.
