A Texas priest literally took an aborted fetus and set it on his altar in order to urge his parishioners to vote for Donald Trump. Reverend Frank Pavone of Amarillo politicized from the pulpit then uploaded the video to Facebook. So far, that video has been viewed 350,000 times.
Pavone promoted the GOP nominee by calling a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion procedure “child killing.”
“Today I am showing you a child who was killed by abortion and entrusted to us by a pathologist for burial,” Rev. Pavone wrote on Facebook above the video. “I am showing him to you because in this election we have to decide if we will allow this child killing to continue in America or not. Hillary Clinton and the Democratic platform says yes, let the child-killing continue (and you pay for it); Donald Trump and the Republican platform says no, the child should be protected.”
On the blog Patheos, Scott Eric Alt explained that what Pavone did “was a sacrilege.” a violation of Catholic Church canon law, which states that the altar is “reserved for divine worship alone, to the exclusion of any secular usage.”
Alt said that what Pavone did was the “opposite of pro-life.”
“Being pro-life is about respecting the dignity of the human person,” Alt continued. “It is the antithesis of respect for the dignity of the human person to use a dead child as a political prop to lobby for your presidential candidate the day before an election.”
“A human being has been sacrificed and the altar of God has been desecrated, all for politics,” he wrote. “Everyone who respects the dignity of every human person should reject and disavow this atrocity.”
Pavone has conducted funerals in the past for aborted fetuses.
We’re not going to add the video here for obvious reasons. The basket is getting nervous. Be sure to shake it hard with your vote today.
