Donald Trump’s remarks were so bad about women, that a person the Republican nominee bribed in the past can’t even find the words to defend them.
Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who dropped Florida’s case against Trump University after she received a $25,000 donation from Trump’s Foundation to her Super PAC, has been a vocal supporter of Trump’s. Bondi spoke for Trump at the RNC in Cleveland and has addressed a few of his rallies in Florida. But after the infamous tape surfaced showing Trump bragging he could do anything to women because he was famous, even the almighty dollar doesn’t buy support for that.
But after the infamous tape surfaced showing Trump bragging he could do anything to women because he was famous, even the almighty dollar doesn’t buy support for that.
Bondi made her remarks about the video to a group called Florida Federation of Republican Women, in which she said:
I believe the statements that, that Donald Trump says were disgusting … um, disgusting. Period.”
Bondi also claimed to have spoken to Trump multiple times in the week since the tape first aired and says he also called his remarks “disgusting” and that he is “horrified, apologetic.”
But what the almighty dollar does appear to buy is some good ol’ Christian forgiveness, saying she will still support Trump:
I believe in forgiveness.
“I believe what Donald Trump said was disgusting. I also believe in the Constitution of the United States of America.”
It should be noted that Trump never once apologized for what he actually said on the tape, he only apologized for the language and the “locker room” talk but never once did he confront the fact he bragged about sexual assault against women. And in the one week since the “Access Hollywood” video aired at least nine women have come forward with stories of Trump inappropriately groping them, exactly as he had described. Trump even hinted at a rally that one woman was not attractive enough to be groped by him — because it’s not enough just to say, “I didn’t do that,” Trump always goes a step too far and has to further tear down the woman.
How can this “disgusting” behavior be so easily forgiven by a seemingly self-respecting woman? It’s easy when you put your party before country, fellow women, young girls and anyone else with a shred of respect for human decency. That’s the Republican way now.
As Obama said Friday, we must hang Trump around the necks of all of his supporters and defenders after the election. They’ll probably develop a severe case of Republican amnesia, but after they defended what is quite likely a serial sex offender even after learning of his comments and then hearing the experiences women are describing they should never get to live this down as long as they hold office.
