Donald Trump has repeatedly targeted the United Nations, a group which promotes international cooperation. This time, Trump appears to be taking a shot at the UN in response to the UN Security Council approving a resolution which demands that Israel must immediately halt their illegal construction of settlements on Palestinian land. But the thing is, Trump doesn’t appear to even understand what Israeli settlements are.

The president-elect tweeted, “The United Nations has such great potential but right now it is just a club for people to get together, talk and have a good time. So sad!”

Just two hours later, the United Nations responded in a tweet, noting their efforts all across the globe, including protecting human rights, supplying vaccines for 40 percent of the world’s children and providing food and assistance to 80 million people in 80 countries.

You know who else didn’t like the U.N.? Or at least its predecessor. Adolf Hitler withdrew from the League of Nations in 1933. Trump’s bizarre tweet may be laying the foundation for US withdrawal from the UN in 2017.
Trump’s buddy, Sarah Palin, seems to be saying just that. She’s referring to Brexit and tying it to how the U.S. should abandon the U.N.
“This is such an encouraging time, where it’s not just us, but those across the pond, too, are understanding that their nation’s sovereignty and security are on the line here, with the ties that bind us to interests that really don’t further our agendas,” she said.
“So when the U.K. made its move, it was just another reason to call yet again for the U.S. to get the heck out of the UN and get the UN out of the U.S. Let’s get going on putting America first so that we can sweep our own porch before telling other nations how to sweep theirs,” she added.
