Donald Trump couldn’t even get through his first meeting with a foreign leader without disrespecting them and embarrassing America.
Just as we expect the leaders of other nations to show our leaders respect, those nations expect us to respect theirs. But when Trump met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe this week, he refused to do so.
When meeting a Japanese person, the customary greeting is to bow. It’s a show of respect and is usually followed by a reciprocating bow.
Conservatives have thrown an absolute hissy fit every time President Obama has bowed to greet a foreign leader. They seem to think that it means that he is apologizing for America or that it’s a sign of weakness or something, even though President Obama is only doing what other presidents have done in the past.
But Trump completely disrespected Prime Minister Abe by refusing to bow. And conservatives are absolutely giddy about it.

America first. Feels great to have a President who cares about America, doesn’t grovel like Cuckobama. https://t.co/QEHQM8Igrz

Seriously, bowing to certain foreign leaders is not a sign of weakness or apology. It’s a customary greeting. It’s called etiquette and showing respect. Something conservatives obviously have never been taught.
Trump just displayed his disrespect for the first world leader he has met one on one and he totally failed as the eyes of the world watched.
If a foreign leader walked up to Trump and refused to shake his hand conservatives would be screaming bloody murder about how that leader just disrespected him. And that’s because Republicans are complete hypocrites.
