Donald Trump seems intent on filling his cabinet with the worst possible people, and so far, he is succeeding. After naming white supremacist Steve Bannon as his Chief Strategist, sources close to Trump say his top choice for Secretary of State is Rudy Giuliani.
According to a senior official who chose to remain anonymous, as he/she is not authorized to speak on the matter, Trump’s number one pick for Secretary of State is the former New York mayor.
The official says there’s no real competition for the job and that it’s the former New York mayor’s if he wants it.
Giuliani was also floated as a possibility for U.S. Attorney General before Trump’s win. Speaking to CNN’s Chris Cuomo just last week, Giuliani had said that he definitely has the energy to replace Loretta Lynch.
“There’s probably no one that knows the justice department better than me,” he added.
While attending a Wall Street Journal CEO Council event in Washington, however, Giuliani said he would not be taking on the role of attorney general in Trump’s administration. Apparently, it was decided that he might best serve a Trump presidency by focusing on foreign affairs. (Insert hysterical laughter here.)
Trump is well on his way to assembling the worst cabinet in history. In addition to Bannon and Giuliani, Reince Priebus has been named as his White House chief of staff. And just to round things out a little, Trump is considering bringing in Laura Ingraham to serve as White House press secretary. You may remember her as the lady who gave a nazi salute after her speech at the Republican National Convention.
If this lineup isn’t enough to terrify you, then I don’t know what the hell is. It’s going to be a long four years, folks. Very long.
