On Friday, Fox News‘ Tucker Carlson faced off with Teen Vogue writer Lauren Duca over Ivanka Trump, as well as other stories Duca has written.
Unfortunately for Carlson, the debate proved almost as embarrassing as the brutal career-ending intellectual beatdown he received at the hands of Jon Stewart on CNN’s Crossfire back in 2004.
Carlson tried to chastise Duca for tweeting what he considered to be a disrespectful message about Ivanka, shortly after Donald Trump’s eldest daughter was loudly harassed on an airplane. Duca tweeted:
Ivanka Trump is poised to become the most powerful woman in the world. Don’t let her off the hook because she looks like she smells good.

Duca’s sentiment was one that Ivanka, as well as any person who loves democracy, should agree with. Powerful individuals who have strong influence with a government’s leader should be held to account no matter how they look.
The writer told Carlson she didn’t believe that Ivanka should be confronted in public, especially in the presence of her children, but also reiterated that the soon-to-be First Daughter is not above criticism. Carlson then tried to corner Duca for stating that Ivanka has a “sinister complicity” in her father’s political agenda. Duca did not shrink away from her remark and made the point that there is a difference between unjustly trolling Ivanka and legitimately criticizing her support of the “most anti-woman candidate in decades.”
Tucker continued to talk over and hammer away at the writer while, maintaining a mockingly puzzled look of contempt on his face as though Duca were some kind of alien insect. However, Duca finally had enough of Carlson’s childish “gotcha questions” and hit back hard telling the Fox News host:
“You’re actually being a partisan hack that’s just attacking me ad nauseam and not allowing me to speak.”

Carlson tried to recover by attacking her recent viral article about Trump’s “gaslighting” of America. But when the Fox News host flippantly said “Teen Vogue, which I guess you write for,” Duca was quick to blast his patronizing remark out of the water, telling Carlson that he knew she wrote for the magazine from which he was quoting.
The two continued to debate over Duca’s contention that Trump is dividing people by using psychological warfare, and at one point Carlson tried to belittle the writer by noting that she writes about inconsequential topics like Ariana Grande and fashion. Carlson then tried to win the debate by using sexism, telling Duca, “You should stick to the thigh-high boots. You’re better at that.”
Unfortunately, the Fox News host abruptly ended the interview before Duca could respond.
Despite Carlson’s cowardly actions, following the interview, Duca shot back on Twitter.
.@TuckerCarlson is an enemy of rational discourse. In this fraught moment, his bully tactics are profoundly damaging, and achieve nothing.

And for those who may have forgotten, or who’ve never had the pleasure of watching Jon Stewart walk away with Carlson’s soul and CNN career in his back pocket, here’s the clip of that glorious moment in cable news history.
Carlson proves once again that he’s still an inadequate sniveling little neocon punk who can’t hold his own against a strong progressive mind.
Maybe one day Jon Stewart will pay him a surprise visit on Fox News.
