Things started off pretty calmly for Ben. He was asked a question about whether or not he knew what it was Trump was going to reveal that would supposedly exonerate him. And like all of Trump’s minions Carson zeroed in on a few details like whether or not airplane armrests flip-up to try to “prove” that the sexual assault accounts flooding in over the last week are bogus.
But then rather than reading the prepared message Donald had pinned to his jacket about a Globalist media conspiracy, Carson went off message and begin simply repeating that the allegations don’t matter. He argued that America was just in too much danger and that the metaphorical train had run off the rails. In times like these, he argued, such matters simply shouldn’t register.
As Joe Scarborough and the rest of the cast began pointing out how hypocritical an argument this was (and a few of them can be heard laughing while he speaks) Ben began to lose his temper. At one point he simply shouted “stop!” over and over until everyone else stopped asking him questions. He violently thrust his finger at his interviewers and began to express deep disdain for anyone in the media. His face twisted into a sneer that I’ve never seen on the usually placid Dr. Carson before.
He seemed to focus especially on the women and tried to rope Scarborough onto his side at one point asking him to cut the microphone of one of his fellow anchors. At that point Joe had had enough and shot right back at Carson with the same level of vitriol. Carson sank back into his chair, chuckled a few times and was his old docile self from then on.
Though Carson still wouldn’t take any questions from the two female anchors, he did manage to stay calm for the remainder of the segment. At the end of the clip all four anchors have a brief conversation without Carson to sort of rehash what had happened. The sort of that-was-close moment four campers might have if they’d just reached safety after being attacked by a bear.
