Imagine being raised by Donald Trump. I think that’s really what was on display on CNN just after the end of the Vice Presidential Debate; the sheer emotional trauma that Eric Trump has experienced growing up in a world where Donald Trump is the main male role model. He seems to be struggling to get a word in even when no else is talking; no doubt from years of being in the same room as his father.
You know what really made his day? During the interview one of the anchors complimented him on his speaking skills and his face just lit up:
That’s the sort of positive reinforcement he really could have used as a child. His smile faded almost immediately as he realized that they were only sarcastically complimenting his PR abilities as a way of pointing out how he was avoiding their questions. False praise is apparently Eric Trump’s kryptonite because after he realizes they’re poking fun at him he just loses it.
He begins talking faster and faster about anything that comes to mind. How old Hillary is, listing properties and other things that make his father a great man. Comparing the sorts of products that his family produces to the things that Hillary has produced. By the way, she’s produced nothing because she’s a public official. Doctors, lawyers, accountants and anyone else who isn’t in manufacturing don’t produce physical, tangible objects in the course of a day. Does that make them worse for the country? Well, Eric Trump seems to think so.
It’s funny then that his company spends so much time renting hotel rooms and selling time at his golf courses that make up the majority of their business. They do sell some physical objects but all of those are made in China, Bangladesh, and Mexico; all of which Donald Trump seems to think are very bad places.
I’ve positioned the video at the point where Eric really loses his cool and starts getting really snotty with the panel from CNN. The same panel that his father spent the whole night tweeting about. It’s almost as if he knew in advance that the Gollum of the Trump family was going to throw another fit on live television because he has psychological issues stemming from childhood neglect.
