The former Daily Show host was not going to miss an opportunity to piss all over Trump’s parade, and he did it as if he never left.
Stephen Colbert began the second segment of his show on Thursday night by announcing the resignation of Fox News CEO Roger Ailes over the sexual harassment allegations against him.
But Colbert didn’t want to celebrate the news by himself, so Jon Stewart literally popped up to join him.
Before leaving, Stewart briefly took over Colbert’s chair and proceeded to roast Republicans like old times.
Lamenting that Donald Trump is the Republican nominee, Stewart said he is excited about one thing and that is watching conservatives contort themselves into supporting someone who embodies all the things they say they hated about President Obama.
A series a clips played demonstrating conservative media personalities complaining about Obama’s lack of experience, his supposed divisiveness, his alleged “thin skin,” and that he is an authoritarian and a narcissist.
Seriously, the irony and hypocrisy here is jaw-dropping.
Stewart then slammed his old punching bag Sean Hannity, or as he called him tonight, “Lumpy.”
Stewart pointed out that Hannity has no problem with Trump’s divisive remarks even though he often accuses President Obama of being divisive. In addition, Hannity has no problem with Trump using a teleprompter and even praises him for using one despite constantly whining when President Obama does.
Hannity also has accused President Obama of being an elitist because of his nice home prior to moving into the White House, yet Trump is the guy “who sits in a literal golden throne at the top of a golden tower with his name in gold letters at the top of it.”
And then Stewart delivered the knock-out blow.
“Either Lumpy and his friends are lying about being bothered by thin-skinned authoritarian less-than-Christian readers of prompter being president, or they don’t care, as long as it’s their thin-skinned prompter authoritarian tyrant narcissist. You just want that person to give you your country back because you feel that you’re this country’s rightful owners. The only problem with that, this country isn’t yours! You don’t own it! It never was! There is no real America! You don’t own it! You don’t own patriotism, you don’t own Christianity, you sure as hell don’t own respect for the brave and sacrifice of military, police and firefighters! Trust me! I see you and I see your bulls—t.”

Let’s hope Jon Stewart comes back to television well before the election in November. Because he nailed this brief appearance and America certainly needs him on the air again.
