On Election Day, comedy didn’t die, but many of us at least temporarily lost the ability to laugh — and if you expected Saturday Night Live to change that, the cast decided that you had to wait a bit.
Kate McKinnon once again returned as Hillary Clinton for the cold opener, but there were no jokes, no smiles, just a beautiful rendition of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ and a message of hope. The song was a tribute to the late Cohen, who passed away this week at the age of 83. After she finished, McKinnon looked at the camera and, tears forming in her eyes, delivered a single powerful sentence:
“I’m not giving up and neither should you.”
Right now, laughter is needed. A man who has promised to do literally everything our country fights against just found himself installed by the faulty Electoral system into the most powerful office in the world. But we also need to remember that brighter days are ahead. Right now, we as Democrats need to keep hope alive that when the next four years have ended we have something left of our way of life.
Watch McKinnon blow you away with this beautiful and appropriate melody below:

John Prager is an unfortunate Liberal soul who lives uncomfortably in the middle of a Conservative hellscape.
Prager spends much of his time poking Trump’s meth-addled, uneducated fans with a pointy stick and is currently writing a book of muskrat recipes (not really) as well as putting together a scrapbook of his favorite death threats. His life’s aspiration is to rule the world with an iron fist, or find that sock he’s been looking for.
