Stephen Colbert donned his Hunger Games costume and made an unapproved stop at the main podium of the Republican National Convention. Stephen’s sneaky infiltration allowed him a few moments on the stage, during which he took the opportunity to openly mock both Donald Trump and Mike Pence.
Declaring that Trump “has formed an alliance with Indiana Governor Mike Pence,” he quickly fell asleep at the mere mention of Pence’s name. A moment later he pretended to wake back up and said “Sorry, I blacked out there for a moment.”
Stephen then declared, “It is my honor to hereby launch and begin the 2016 Republican National Hungry For Power Games!”
It was all going pretty well until a security guard finally appeared on the stage and put an end to Stephen’s hijinks. Republicans just can’t seem to find their sense of humor it seems.
Here is another picture of Stephen from what appears to be a backstage area.

As Stephen was getting hustled away by the security guard, he quickly uttered into the microphone “I know I’m not supposed to be up here – honest, neither is Donald Trump.”
Afterwards, you could hear the crowd start applauding as Stephen was shuffled offstage by security. Were the applauding that he was removed, or were they applauding in agreement that Donald Trump doesn’t really belong in a position to accept a presidential nomination?
I want to believe it’s the latter of the two, and even Republicans know what they’re about to do is inherently wrong.
