This more than anything else proves that Donald Trump’s attempt to appeal to black voters is a total failure.
The Republican nominee showed up at a black church in Detroit to speak on Saturday in an effort to get black people to vote for him.
From the start, Trump’s effort was doomed to failure because when he stepped out to deliver his remarks his audience was nowhere to be found, as the flock apparently refused to be fooled by a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
That’s right. Most of the congregation did not show up, resulting in a nearly empty church as this photo reveals.

And those who did attend to give Trump a chance had their intelligence insulted as the man who partly led the birther movement against President Obama invoked Abraham Lincoln as a reason why black people should vote him.
“Becoming the nominee of the party of Abraham Lincoln, a lot of people don’t realize that Abraham Lincoln, the great Abraham Lincoln, was a Republican, has been the greatest honor of my life,” Trump said.
“It is on his legacy that I hope to build the future of the party but more importantly the future of the country and the community,” he continued.

It was a nice try, but the Republican Party of today is far removed from the Republican Party that ended slavery and passed the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments 150 years ago.
Today, the GOP is infested with white supremacists who hope Donald Trump will make America white again and finally bring their racist views into the mainstream.
Trump and the Republican Party are desperate to convince anyone to vote for them after the disastrous month Trump had in August that resulted in his poll numbers imploding. Not only has he failed to convince black voters that he actually gives a damn about them, he lost the Hispanic vote permanently after delivering his post-Mexico immigration speech.
Republicans need to wake up and see the writing on the wall. Instead of hoping every election that white voters will carry them to victory while ignoring voters of color, Republicans should have been sincere about working on diversifying their party, which would mean changing your message and fighting for policies that non-white voters care about.
Donald Trump merely showed up so that he could get a photo-op in an effort to convince white voters that he isn’t a racist. The fact is that the crowd protesting him outside the church was probably bigger than the crowd he spoke to inside. Black voters clearly were not fooled by Trump.
